We have just received the 3000 and 2500R Certates.  There have been rave reviews about the smaller models that arrived earlier so we can't wait for feedback on these.  Duncan is out fishing Bugatti Reef this week with Tom and they are give a 3000 a run for it's money. Not the size reel you would normally take out there but the boys figured if you are going to try something out why not go the whole way.

Fantastic News - the 2010 Certates are in Australia.  We have them in store (with the 2500R and 3000 due at the end of April).  These are the hottest new release from Daiwa and you want be disappointed.  They are soooooo smooth.

We have just come back from fishing the Ribbon Reefs off Cairns.  I used an S-Extreme Maverick 4500 and Duncan used the 6500.  We were very impressed pulling up some great GT's and many other species - though the trip will be remembered for the many very angry fish that took delight in blowing us away.

Lots of you will know that every chance I get I drag Duncan and the kids out for a bit of squid fishing.  Well today was no exception and we headed out at sunrise to catch the tide at the local Redland Bay jetty.  We got there just as the tide was coming in.  Trapped right beside the jetty in a rock pool was a decent size squid......

For those of you have been in recently you will have noticed the changes.  Basically we have run out of space.  We have more tackle than can fit on the walls so had to do some re-arranging and add more wall panels to fit all the new goodies.  The result is an even bigger and improved jigging and popping section, more gear in the fly section (though we now have multiple colours on each hook) and a re-arranged lure section.

It would be no secret to most regular visitors to Fish Head, that staff member Aaron Concord loves marlin fishing. With the proliferation of small blacks along the coast at the moment, it is time to get serious about chasing these ‘little’ 10-50kg fish. For our first seminar of the year, Aaron will be going through all the basics for anyone either wanting to tangle with their first marlin or do it more consistently. He will be talking on topics such as lure choice and placement, tackle and rigging, where to start looking and how to fight and land the fish.

The new Lake Monduran DVD has just arrived.  This action packed DVD is a peek into the world of barramundi - exploring how weather, water currents and lure selection influence barra behaviour.  A great DVD to have if you are planning a barra trip or if you want something to do on rainy days.

The long awaited Stella 10,000SW has just arrived.  The awesome new reel in the Shimano range has had many drooling in anticipation and its smaller and larger counterparts have not disappointed.  For those waiting on the 10,000 your turn has come.

We have just received a shipment of the very cool high speed version of the popular Daiwa Certate Hyper Custom 4000 Hyper reel. (the reel must be faster it has red trimmings .  This reel comes with a new style ball handle and shallower spool than original (the spool holds 200m of PE2).  If you would like to have a look first hand just drop into our store at Victoria Point.  The reel will go onto our website in coming weeks.

Received a call a few minutes ago from a very excited David Love to say he just caught a 96cm Snapper.  You could hear the smile in his voice.  David lands some awesome fish and this beauty was enticed by a 7" Bass Assassin plastic.  The boys are still on the water but he has promised to send through photos.  Just goes to show the snapper are there even on days that don't look so great.  As for the spot - well David and Gary have been exploring - the new spot is now known as Dave's spot. Congratulations David!

Some of you may have guessed that I have been away for the last couple of weeks and hence there haven't been any BLOG entries.  I arrived back this morning and wow so much has happened while I have been away.   My very jet lagged brain almost exploded when I dropped into the store this morning.  There is so much new gear I don't quite know where to start.  As soon as I recover I will start posting up what there is but to give you a sample ............

We have been sending Zoom Horny Toads to the guys fishing for Barra for a long time now and they have been having tremendous success.  Duncan has a theory that the toads will be good for other species as well and so we have expanded our range to include even more colours.

Wow - I watched the first story on Barra two nights ago and it was awesome.  Top water fishing with toads makes for some great action.  I am definitely booking my Barra trip soon.  For those of you who love this type of fishing we carry a large range of horny toads - just what you need to entice those big Barra.

After 18 months of planning Duncan, Andrew, Nathan, Brock, Matt, Mark and Kim flew out by floatplane to Marion Reef this morning for a week of jigging and popping.  We hope to see some amazing photos by this time next week.  Hope you have a fantastic time guys!

At the moment the forecast for Saturday is looking great for Moreton Bay and Offshore.  (Sunday the wind may pick up a bit).  Duncan's call would be Southern Bay Islands for snapper and bream and the shallow offshore reefs for snapper, sweetlip and cobia.

For those of you who know Victoria Point you will know the lake beside the restaurants and cinemas here in Victoria Point.  Tonight we went to get dinner from Indique (excellent food by the way).  We had to do the compulsory stop to look at the turtles in the lake.  Lachlan, our 3 year old, bent down looked through the rails very intently then turned around and in an extremely excited voice said  "Daddy, there would be fish in there!  We need our rods!"  He then proceeded to give us a demo of how he would be winding in his big fish.  Looks like all that training is paying off.

We received a shipment yesterday of some great rods.  Ranging from spinning rods for bream right through to Baitcasters for Barra the Pfleuger rods represent excellent value for money being priced between $100 to $150 (normally they would sell for $200 - $300).  The boys are really impressed with the quality of the rods hence why the big range. 

The boys are out of control.  We have had so much new fly tying material arrive in the past week I don't know how we are going to fit it.  For those of you who are really busy there are also hundreds of new flies to chose from.

With Tuna's busting up in the bay and lots of people off to Christmas Island and Weipa now is the time to have a look at your fly reels and see if they are up to the task.

FCL LABO lure are THE lure to have in Japan at the moment.  Their cult following and limited production runs makes them extremely difficult to get.  Fish Head has spent the last three months tracking down these amazing big poppers and stickbaits.  I was so excited when the shipment finally arrived from Japan that the postman thought I had gone crazy.
